A Tribute to Dawson’s Creek

A few weeks ago, Netflix suggested that I watch Dawson’s Creek.  I have no idea how, in fact its kind of creepy.  I was a huge fan of the show back in the 90’s and probably hadn’t watched it since.  So more than 15 years later, I started watching it again from the beginning.  It’s so horrible, that its awesome.  It’s even better than I remember.  I wanted to do a Dawson’s Creek shirt that you wouldn’t be able to find anywhere else.  I decided to take it to the extreme and try to create an “Ice House” shirt.  The “Ice House” is the dive restaurant that Joey’s sister owns.  I checked all over the internet, and a shirt like this did not exist.  I knew this would be the coolest choice.  Once I started in on this, I realized why.  There isn’t a clean shot of this shirt on film!  I had to get all C.S.I. on this project.  I searched the footage and took snap shots of every semi-clear shot I could find.  I had to zoom, sharpen, and use every trick imaginable to get a clear picture of what this looked like.  In the end, after a lot of work, I was able to make a shirt inspired from the original shirts worn in the restaurant of the show.  This is a sweet gift for any Dawson’s Creek fan.

You can find this in our Etsy store, eBay store, and supersweetshirts.com

All out of Bubble Gum: "They Live" Shirt

I’m not quite sure why it took so long to pay tribute to John Carpenter’s “They Live”, a legendary bad-ass film.  I’m almost ashamed that it took this long.  Without further delay, I give you my tribute to “They Live.”

This baby is available on our eBay, Etsy, and at supersweetshirts.com.

New Conan Shirt

I have a new Conan design that I decided to do.  I had come across a red ink that I loved in terms of how it looked on a black shirt.  Most water-based inks end up looking barely visible on black shirts unless you get an opaque ink, but I hate using those.  I also didn’t want a plastisol look with a big shiny red image that will end up looking stiff and shitty over time.  I wanted a faded, cool, look.  This ink worked out perfectly and I love this shirt.  Any fan of “Conan” will know the the Thulsa Doom symbol of the serpent.

How to Print Postage using Paypal Without Recieving an Order or Selling Something.

I came across a little trick online that I wanted to share in case other sellers weren’t aware of this.  I use Paypal for my other shops, its easy for me to keep track of orders and print/track shipping.  Stamps.com is a rip off and is a total waste, but I still need to pay $15.00 a month in case I get any international orders through my main website (you can’t print first class international with Paypal.) With this link you can print first class postage easily even if the customer didn’t use Paypal to check out.  It’s not exactly a feature that Paypal promotes, in fact, I have yet to find the link within the site to do it, but by using this link from my blog, it allows you to.  The option mainly exists for eBay sellers to create prepaid labels, but you can use it for anything.  This is a super handy trick that I thought I’d share!

New Bodysuit!

I have finished the first two new products of the year and they should be posted in all of my shops by the time this is read.  The first of the two is a new baby bodysuit inspired by the iconic picture of Keith Richards sporting the “Who the Fuck is Mick Jagger?” shirt.  Truthfully I hadn’t even seen the shirt until watching the Maroon 5 video with my wife.  Watching the video, I assumed countless indie shirt makers had already listed that for sale on plenty of sites, and I also thought it was sort of lame.  Then it hit me.  This as baby onesie would be awesome, because a baby would literally have no idea who Mick Jagger is!  I actually wanted to take it a step further and change it to Mike Jagger, but I figured I’d cut my obscure humour short in fear of never selling one.

Back To Normal! Also, WTF?

Finally the Christmas rush has ended.  This year was pretty insane, the business was just awesome, and I love interacting with customers that send me messages about the product.  Its a great way to hear from everyone and get a little feedback.  The winner this year for our most popular design of the year definitely goes to:

The Life Aquatic Shirt

This shirt was a surprise this year and I ended up selling a bunch of these to the point where I had to pull it temporarily while I caught up.  Hope everyone enjoyed their shirts and has a happy holiday!

And now for my first non commercial blog post in a while:  “WTF”

So our baby has finally started to breast feed.  She didn’t take to the fleshy mounds at first and was a royal pain in the ass.  All of a sudden, she loves it.  This is great and all for my wife who no longer needs to pump out ever ounce of milk the baby consumes and makes her life a lot easier.  The baby frequently will just fall asleep while feeding which is an awesome option…..until its time for me to put her to sleep.  I have to do the traditional rocking and singing while she kicks and screams until passing out.  Its wonderful.  Its bonding.

So my wife and I were sitting around after the baby finally went to sleep.  I said to her, “I wish there was like a fake boob that a man could strap on that had some milk in it, and then the baby just nurses like normal.  That way I can just easily put her to sleep.” We then laughed about how retarded of an idea that was, and then out of curiosity, I looked it up…..and sure enough:

This by far is one of the most ridiculous things I’ve seen, and talk about confusing your kid.  I don’t think I’d be able to  use this without feeling bad.  It reminds me of this:

For all Adult fans of "Road House"…

Like I said in the previous post for the “Road House” onesie, my goal for a while was to design a pretty sweet T-Shirt for this movie.  I started with the onesie because I had an idea what I wanted to do for that, but the shirt was still up in the air.  Browsing the google images for Swayze, I found a picture that I liked and figured I could do something to.  The end result…totally sweet:

This is available in our Etsy, eBay, and website!  Remember, prices are the lowest on our website because we don’t get slapped with fees!

New Roadhouse Onesie!

Oh man, its been a while since I’ve had enough time to put out a new design.  I still don’t really have “time” but I forced this in.  One of my favorite films ever growing up is, “Roadhouse”.  I watched this movie at an age where it was probably totally unacceptable, but hey I turned out fine.  Needless to say, this became one of my all time favorites and can basically recite the dialog throughout the entire film.  A “Roadhouse” inspired garment has always been on my list of things to make, but could never think of what exactly I wanted to do.  So after some thought, I figured a bouncer shirt for an infant would be awesome.

This is now available on our website at http://www.supersweetshirts.com .  Great holiday or shower gift!
