Heiress to the throne….of supersweetshirts!

The time has come.  Yesterday was a day of intense labor for my wife.  Its a crazy feeling being couped up in a room for 14+ hours watching your wife endour waves of pain.  As a man, you kind of sit there and offer support, you comfort and offer words of encouragment, and basically you kind of realize how incredible mothers are.  To actually see a woman, my wife, do that entire grueling process, was just amazing.  Now I have an incredible little girl, the Heiress to the Throne of the Super Sweet Shirt Co, Amelia Rose!

The Roku 3!

I’m a tech geek, not to the point where I’m just blowing cash on stupid devices for no reason, but I indulge in technology when there are new advances in things that I love, typically viewing entertainment.  The Roku 3 is definitely a step towards perfection for a media box.

We first got the Roku 2 a little over a year ago and I did a review of it on this blog.  Over time, I became less impressed with it as it frequently gave me problems and had a difficult time latching onto a strong wireless connection.  It was pretty annoying, but I dealt with it.  When we lost the remote for it when packing, I used it as a good excuse to replace it with the Roku 3.  I was interested in this device for a number of reasons, two being: the great reviews on Amazon and the Wifi Booster (I don’t think its technically called that, but you get the idea).  With the terrible reception of the wifi the first time around, I wanted something with some balls this time around.  So I took a chance with the Roku 3.
The Roku 3 retails at about $99.00 and is the Cadillac of the Roku products.  It comes with a remote that is cable of motion control actions when playing Roku App Games, and also has the ability to plug in headphones to watch a movie, and the headphones plug right into the remote.  This option is pretty awesome if you want to crank some stereo sound while your kid is sleeping.  I’m sure I’ll be trying this out in my future.
I am a month into using this little gem and I am super impressed.  So impressed that we have cut the chord on cable/satellite.  No more nonsense cable bill!  In reality, I turned the cable box on for 1 reason, sports.  I watch Hockey and Football. With the Roku I was able to get the NHL Gamecenter Live Package (which I will review later this week).  This allowed me to get my hockey in HD, and gave me the excuse I needed to get rid of my cable provider.
The Roku 3 works flawlessly with Neflix, Amazon Prime, and all other apps I have tried.  It is a great step in the “a la carte” direction that entertainment is going in, and with the Spotify App, its almost the complete package.

Can’t get this out of my mind…

I have a lot on my mind these days.  The major one is that I have a kid on the way that is due any day now.  I also have the holiday rush here at supersweetshirts.com happening any day now as well.  With all of this going on, there is a third thing that was brought to my attention just this week that I cannot get out of my mind as well….

Let’s talk about how awesome this is.   Of course my primary reason for blogging is to occasionally mention the awesome products at supersweetshirts.com and also at our etsy store , but occasionally a product comes around that is well deserved of a third party plug.  “TapIt Cap” is worthy of this.  Its like a mini draft system for your home.  I love growlers, but a big reason as to why I don’t get them more often, is because I can’t finish it up fast enough to maintain the freshness.  Let me modify that statement, I CAN finish a growler without a problem, but maybe I just want a pint or two?  Maybe every time I open a growler, I don’t want to get bombed.  This device will keep your growler fresh and let you drink at your own leisure!  Genius! The best part?  Its not even that expensive retailing at 45.00 at Tapitcap.com .  This is a great gift for any beer lover!  On a side note, the perfect gift to go along with this would be:

Something Awesome For the Fall.

If you read this blog frequently or actually know me in real life, you know that I love beers.  I am an IPA guy but have been trying to branch out, and try more of a variety of beers.  The fall is a particularly great time to do this because the seasonal selections are just awesome.  Normally my “go to” beer is the Southern Tier Pumking, perhaps the best pumpkin beer I’ve ever had.  This year my favorite fall beverage (so far) goes to Woodchuck’s Cellar Series Dry-Hop.  This is actually a hard cider, but its amazing.  I’ve really branched out this year with trying ciders because there are so many varieties available, each more daring then the next.  Some fall short in being any good, while some are just fantastic.  This one is fantastic.

These days, you need to be careful when you see a beverage product hyping an infusion of hops, its not something everyone can pull off.  I had no idea what this thing was going to taste like, but I trusted the folks at Woodchuck, because aside from their disgusting Pumpkin Cider, everything else I’ve had from them is always tasty.*
The Cellar Series Dry Hop is incredibly crisp, in fact I found it to almost be on par with a sparkling wine, but with tons of flavor.  The “Dry Hop” is definitely there but its not overly offensive, its actually perfect.  The best part about this delicious gem, is that its only about $4.95 a bomber (and I bought it at a place that’s typically a little over priced).
Definitely give this a shot before the fall is over with, it’s worth a taste!

*The Woodchuck 802 really incredible as well.  I have only seen it available as part of the fall variety pack and not as a standalone 6 or 12.

With not much time remaining, we have a nursery!

Well, we were put through a whirlwind with the burglary, temporarily moving out, and all that madness.  With only a few weeks remaining (possibly earlier), the nursery is finally finished!  We took a disgusting turd of a room and turned it into something awesome.  I have taken the pictures from the other blog posts and compiled all of the process pictures to create this wonderful room.  For a while, when we were trying to sell the house, losing this room before the baby got to see it was brutal on me.  I was doing my best to deal with it, but I couldn’t let go of it.  I slowly started getting more and more angry….

When we had to make a call to stay or possibly not have a place at all for when the baby came, we decided to stay, I love our neighborhood, we just has some super shitty luck.  It was then going to be full speed ahead in finishing the room.  I want to thank all who helped make this possible and who helped us get through the worst two months ever.  It is finally done…

Girl or Boy….. the Bills are in their blood.

Welcome New Visitors!

So we started to pay for some ad space in the wild world of the internet.  I figured it was the next logical step.  I started out with a facebook ad and I’ve seen an increase of visitors in all of our shops and on this blog.  Because of this, I decided to do an intro entry.
We currently have 3 major online stores, our Etsy Shop, our Ebay Store, and our website at supersweetshirts.com.  The reason for this is because some folks just feel more comfortable using Etsy or Ebay, so this way they have they option and comfort level.  The prices on our website are the lowest, because we don’t have the additional fees to cover like in Etsy or Ebay, so I can get the customer the lowest price possible.
All of our products are screen printed , old school.  No computer printed images, all of our products are screen printed with a 100% guarantee.  All of our items ship very quickly and you will generally have your order in a few days (domestic only, international delivery time varies).  All of my clothing is original, my sole reason for starting this company was to make shirts for people who like out of the ordinary things, like myself!
Any questions that you may have about our products or if you have some kind of request, don’t hesitate to contact me through our website.  I always answer as fast as I can which is usually just a few minutes.  I don’t do custom orders, but if its something like getting a design put on a womens shirt, or a onesie design on a toddler shirt, usually I can accommodate.
This blog is used for whatever I feel like.  Sometimes I rant about movies, sometimes I use this to show the new shirt designs first, or sometimes even offering a special low price on here. I’ll sometimes write about beer, or food, or recipes.  There is literally no format to this, I just write about whats going on.

Book mark us and bookmark our store for the holidays, we will have the best prices and the coolest gifts around!

Where Have I been!?

Ohhhhhh what a couple of months this has been.  First off, I haven’t posted in so long, I probably lost the regulars.  There has been good reason.  Well not “good”, it was actually horrible.  Over a month ago, I was working on the third floor of our place, and we were broken into/robbed.  This happened in broad daylight.  This basically through our whole world into an upheaval.  Not that I was afraid….I mean after all, I’m bad ass, but basically it was the second time its happened to us.  So in  a nutshell, I had to move the super sweet shirt company into a temporary location, breaking my normal routine, but working hard to make sure all orders were completed and on time.  Things are winding down now and should be getting back to normal over the next few weeks, blog posts should be more regular, and new designs should start trickling from the depths of my brain.

I should have been more prepared….

Super Sweet Bill Murray Shirt

Truly one of the greatest actors of all time is Bill Murray.  I wanted to do a Bill Murray shirt for some time, especially because t-shirt makers online all share the same lame image of him.  Go on Etsy, or Google search “Bill Murray” shirts, and you get the same stuff.  It kind of amazes me that any of these shirt companies make any money of sharing the same design.  I wanted to get creative and set my design apart from all the others.  I decided to do a shirt paying tribute to Bill Murray in “The Life Aquatic”.

I didn’t just want to do this image on a shirt, I wanted to take it further and include his ship “The Belafonte”.

This is now available in our Etsy and Ebay Stores as well as our main website.

Its 2013 and I’ve just discovered Podcasts

A friend of mine kept telling me to check out Pod-casts, but I never really gave it any thought.  It always seemed like a pain in the ass.  I mean I’m pretty tech savvy, so it wasn’t that I didn’t know how to use pod-casts, it just didn’t seem worth my time, plus in my mind – if you couldnt be on satellite radio or regular radio, than you must just be terrible anyway.  Yeah…I was wrong.  I’m actually finding that its totally opposite. Besides the Stern show, everything on radio is really terrible, and the pod-cast world is just great.  There are so many Pod-cast shows that its hard to tell you what is worth listening to, mainly because you can literally listen to whatever you are interested in.
If you have a smart phone, I suggest getting Podkicker from your app store, its free. Once you get it, its pretty effortless to add Pod-casts:

The main page will show you what you’re subscribed to.

You can do a search for whatever you want and it will generate shows associated with your search and with a one click option to subscribe.
Your new subscription will appear on your main page after your refresh the screen.

Once you click into your show of choice, you have hours of entertainment at your fingertips!

Some of the pod-casts worth listening to:

The Nerdist:  This pod-cast did it for me.  I listened to one episode and I was hooked.  The show is hosted by the guy that hosts “Talking Dead”, Chris Hardwick, and there are almost 350 episodes archived to listen to.  The show gets a massive amount of guests from big-time music artists, wrestlers, and major actors.  The thing that drew me into this show was the fact that these famous people come on, and they are totally unfiltered.  I’m not sure if they just let it all hang out because they think that nobody is listening to these, or because its a super comfortable format to get interviewed on, but it makes for an entertaining show every time.  Great show, I highly recommend it.

The Steve Austin Show:  You don’t have to be into wrestling to enjoy this show.  Almost everyone knows who Steve Austin is whether its from reality TV, wrestling, or action movies.  The bottom line is, Steve Austin is exactly how he appears in real life as he is on TV.  So to hear him unplugged is really an experience better heard in person, than for me to just tell you on here.  This show is awesome and it will totally get a laugh out of you.

Hollywood Babble-On:   If you are a fan of Kevin Smith, you will love this show or any of the Kevin Smith broadcasts from SModcast.

Obviously there are hundreds of great shows to listen to, but I’ll start with these.  If you do a lot of listening on your ipod, phone, or PC throughout the day, check out some of these.

Movies for Guys that Like Movies…

Ah this feels good.  When I first started this blog I would focus a ton on action films as they were the primary theme of my shirts at the time.  I wanted to share some pretty sweet trailers for some movies that dudes like me should be getting ready to watch.  There are some real doozies coming out, here are a few:

“Escape Plan” looks amazing.  Not just because it has Stallone and Schwarzenegger together, but also because it looks like it makes no sense at all – and in some spots, looks completely absurd.  All of these ingredients are essentially part of the recipe which is that of, “Awesome”.  Judging from the trailer, Stallone is  a master of breaking out of prisons.  A group of people want him to test this new state of the art facility to see how full proof it is.  He seems to agree to do this in the trailer but then is electrocuted, blindfolded, injected with some unknown substance, and then taken to the super secret, state of the art facility.  This is where it really starts to look ridiculous (as they pan back to get a shot of the awful CGI prison).  Stallone then seems to receive the typical prison welcoming by getting into a scuffle where he then meets the newly jacked up Arnold.  It is then discovered that this was a big ploy to punish Stallone as he essentially falls of the grid.  Action prevails as Arnold and Sly bash there way through security guards that wear masks that look as if they are from mars, while people on the outside try to help as well, one being Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.  The goal?  To break out of this bizarre prison and to get revenge on who set him up. This shit looks totally awesome.

“Alien Uprising” or “U.F.O” is not something that will be in the theaters….ever.  But man, it looks stupid!  The trailer is kind of vague in terms of being able to explain the story in any depth, but basically, all is great for everyone, until the power goes out and of course, random alien mayhem.  If you are an action buff, and have never heard of this….just watch the trailer.  Don’t research it or it will ruin the surprise at the end!

Finally, the third awesome trailer for movies that I need to see soon, is for this gem.  “Legendary”, aka “Tomb of the Dragon”, stars Dolph Lundgren and Scott Adkins.   If you not familiar with Adkins, he’s a rising action star with his first real U.S. major role being Expendables 2, however he was in a bunch of other sweet movies.  He sort of looks like Ben Affleck if Affleck were an awful actor and could kick peoples asses.
Travis (Adkins) and his team (I’m guessing they are scientists) travel to China to capture some creature that is said to be tormenting some tiny village.  This creature is of course not something that is supposed to be real, so they have to travel to see it for themselves.  All hell breaks loose when Harker, the legendary bounty hunter, also wants to get his piece of the action!
I’m seeing a pattern here with these last two trailers…..totally awesome action stars and over the top terrible sci-fi effects.  I know for a fact I’ll be in the theatre for “Escape Plan”.  The other two I will try to see  soon so that I can give my full review on them.  If you have seen any of these, feel free to comment!
